Privacy Policy

Roadbook Studio ("the app") is an event road director trip meter for motorsport rallying, published by Farragan Pty Ltd. This policy explains what the app accesses on your device and why.

Information the app accesses

The app requests the following device permissions. Each is used only for the feature described, and the resulting data stays on your device unless noted.

• Bluetooth. Used to connect to your OBD2 (ELM327) adapter and read live vehicle speed, which the app turns into distance. No Bluetooth data leaves your device.
• Location. Used while creating or checking a course to record your position so the course can be drawn on a map. Distances are measured from the vehicle, not from GPS. Your location is stored on your device and is not sent to us.
• Microphone & Speech Recognition. Used to record short voice notes at course waypoints and transcribe them into editable text. Recordings and transcripts are stored on your device. Transcription uses Apple's Speech Recognition; the app requests on-device transcription where your device supports it (so the audio stays on the device). On devices or languages that don't support on-device recognition, iOS may send the recording to Apple to transcribe it, subject to Apple's Privacy Policy.

Map imagery

When you view the map, the app loads map tiles from OpenStreetMap (tile.openstreetmap.org). As with any online map, this means your device's IP address and the map area being viewed are sent to the OpenStreetMap tile service so it can return the imagery. This is handled under the OpenStreetMap Foundation Privacy Policy. The app sends no other information with these requests.

Accounts and cloud sync

Signing in is optional. Capturing and checking courses on your device works without an account, and that data stays on the device. If you create a Roadbook Studio account and sign in, the following applies:

• Account. We store the email address, an optional name, and the password you register with (the password is stored only as a secure hash) so you can sign in and so your name can be shown to your team. Accounts are created and managed at roadbookstudio.app.
• Synced content. On a paid plan, the courses and pacenotes you choose to sync — their GPS tracks, distances, waypoints and the text of your waypoint notes (including transcribed voice notes) — are stored on our server so they appear in the desktop editor and on your other devices. The underlying voice-note audio recordings stay on your device and are not uploaded.
• Shared events. If an event organiser shares an event with your account, that event is delivered to your account for use on the device.
• Diagnostics. If you tap “Send to developer” in the app, a diagnostics report (recent connection and error logs, plus your app version and device type) is sent to our server, linked to your account, so we can investigate faults. This is only ever sent when you choose to send it.
• Billing. Paid plans are purchased on our website, not in the app. Card payments are processed by Stripe; we don't receive or store your full card details.

Our server is operated by Farragan Pty Ltd and hosted on a private virtual server; it is not shared with advertisers or data brokers.

What we do not do

• No analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.
• No selling or sharing of your data with anyone.
• No use of your content except to provide the sync, sharing and diagnostics features you choose to use.

Data storage and retention

Courses, recorded tracks, distances, voice notes and settings are stored locally on your device. You can delete individual items in the app, and deleting the app removes all of its local data. If you sign in, synced courses and pacenotes are also held on our server until you delete them (a deletion on one device propagates to the others) or ask us to remove your account. To request deletion of your account and all associated data, email support@roadbookstudio.app.

Your choices

You can grant or revoke Bluetooth, Location, Microphone and Speech Recognition permissions at any time in iOS Settings → Roadbook Studio. Some features won't work without their permission (for example, the trip meter needs Bluetooth to reach the OBD2 adapter).

Third-party services

The app relies on these third parties only for the limited purposes above:

• Apple — Speech Recognition (fallback described above) and TestFlight/App Store distribution, under Apple's Privacy Policy.
• OpenStreetMap Foundation — map tiles, under its Privacy Policy.
• Stripe — payment processing for paid plans purchased on our website, under Stripe's Privacy Policy.

Children

The app is intended for motorsport participants and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to this policy

If we change how the app handles data, we'll update this page and its "last updated" date. Material changes will be reflected before a new version is released.
